We do not have a crystal ball

But we do agree.  The Common Core battle is not over.

Hello everyone!

You may have seen this article from earlier in the week:
State board member says Common Core battle not over

We agree – the fight to Stop Common Core is not over! However, we cannot predict the future or even the way the rest of the legislative session plays out, but we can keep working. We hope you will too.

As you know the legislature is on break right now, but will return to Topeka on April 30th. During the next several weeks, there seem to be many Kansas legislators hosting town hall events or participating in public forums. This is a great way to directly speak with your legislators about Common Core and where they stand on the issue. It is also a great way to meet others in your local area – and start a conversation about Common Core with them. (Do you have a Stop Common Core button? Wear it! Do you have a Stop Common Core shirt? Wear it! Start a conversation.)

We would also like to request that you keep taking time to research, read articles and learn more about Common Core so you feel comfortable speaking to others about it. The fight to reclaim our local control of education in Kansas must start with each of us in our own areas. We may not have the funding or data of someone like Mr. Gates, but we have something even better – personal connections. Don’t be afraid to visit with parents at story time, neighbors outside doing yard work or a friend at the grocery store. Help share and encourage others to take time to learn the facts! And then tell them to contact their legislators and Governor Brownback. We need leadership and support to reclaim education in Kansas!

We will continue to post any updates on the Kansas efforts to STOP COMMON CORE! Don’t forget to follow and like us on Facebook, and to follow us on Twitter!

Thanks to everyone who has taken time to call, email, tweet, wear a button, attend a rally, submit testimony, drive with a bumpersticker, speak at a meeting, host a meeting, etc. Please continue!

Have a wonderful weekend!
