Thank you!

Thanks for all the support at yesterday’s RALLY & HEARING for HB 2292!

There was a great turnout at the rally, great speakers in support or HB 2292 – including Dr. Mary Byrne and Ze’ev Wurman, and there were over 60 written testimonies submitted in support of HB 2292.  The House Education Committee heard the proponents of HB 2292 first, and then listened to the opponents.  No vote was taken in committee yesterday, and we do not have a scheduled time or date when/if that will happen – so please, keep emailing, calling and writing the House Education Committee, your own representative and senator, and Governor Brownback… NOW is the time to STOP COMMON CORE in Kansas!

Support HB 2621 Rally - Wednesday, February 19th

One week ago…

Kansans gathered at the Capitol in Topeka to rally in support of HB 2621, and to attend the House Education Committee hearing for the bill.

There were people who attended from Garden City, Hays, Salina, Wichita, Dodge City, Manhattan, Wichita, Pittsburg, Manhattan, Lawrence, Topeka, Olathe, Spring Hill, Lenexa, Shawnee, Gardner, Leawood, and many other locations.  Kansans who took time off from work, found childcare, and covered travel expenses.

Rally3

The room for the hearing was full, and the overflow went outside into the hall.

There were so many speakers, about 70 total with 30 supporting HB 2621, that time  allowed for presenting testimony was limited to only 90 seconds.  Those testifying did their best to make their messages as concise as possible.  Excellent testimony was presented in opposition to Common Core (Kansas College and Career Ready Standards).

The time quickly passed, and the hearing was over.  The bill was not discussed by the committee, and it was not voted on.  That means there is still work to do!  PLEASE:

  • Continue to contact the House Education Committee members and tell them to STOP Common Core and support HB 2621

  • Continue to contact your own Kansas Representative and Kansas Senator and tell them to STOP Common Core and support HB 2621

  • Continue to contact the Governor’s Office

  • AND PLEASE – Continue to share the truth about Common Core (Kansas College and Career Ready Standards) with friends, family, neighbors, etc.  It is so important to encourage others to get involved at the local level!

THANK YOU to everyone who attended the rally!

THANK YOU to everyone who attending the hearing, submitted testimony and presented testimony!

THANK YOU to everyone who made phone calls and sent emails!

THANK YOU to everyone who has been following, sharing, posting, praying and supporting the effort to reclaim education in Kansas!

THANK YOU!

Do we have a Heidi Sampson in KS?

Last week we posted about Dr. Rella, the Superintendent in NY, who organized a rally to stop Common Core with over 1500 people attending. We asked if there is a Dr. Rella in Kansas.

Now we are looking for someone like Heidi Sampson.  Heidi is a member of the Maine State Board of Education, and she is speaking out against Common Core.  You can read more about her, and the speech she gave on August 21st at the No Common Core Rally in Augusta Maine at www.whatiscommoncore.wordpress.com.

On a daily basis, people are realizing for the first time the significant impact of Common Core and are becoming increasingly concerned. This is not another educational fad that will pass away. The people of Maine must become informed and let their voices be heard.” – Heidi Sampson, Maine State School Board
